Ruacana Falls Excursion (All year activity)

The dramatic 85m Ruacana waterfall was once a natural wonder, but all that changed when Angola's Calueque Dam, 20km upstream, and NamPower's Ruacana hydro power plant was built to generate electricity. When there's a surfeit of water, Ruacana returns to its former glory as one of the most spectacular sights on the continent.

The waterfalls are located near Ruacana on the Kunene River in Northern Namibia.

The waterfall is 120m (390 feet) high and 700m (2,300 feet) wide in full flood. It is among the largest waterfalls in Africa, both by volume and width.

The falls can be visited throughout the year.If the water is not enough for the Calueque Dam to open up, the falls and river scenery still remain a wonderful sight.

The same conditions and timing as with the Epupa Excursion apply to the Ruacana activity and include the following:

  • Water and picnic lunch packs are included;
  • Not included - any drinks or extras whilst at Ruacana Falls;
  • Maximum number of guests per tour, per day are - 12 guests in 2 x Condor vehicles;
  • Minimum number of guests per tour are 4 x full paying adults;
  • (Maximum number of guests per tour per day are 6 per Condor); and
